MEET YOUR MAKER

Meet April, the head jeweller behind Yang Jewellery. Born and raised in the serene bush of regional Victoria, Australia, April's passion for creativity was nurtured from a young age. Her mother an art teacher and practising artist of over 40 years and her father an English and literature teacher, she was surrounded by a world of creative expression and raised with eccentric and artistic role models.

Growing up on a sprawling 20-acre property nestled in the Victorian bushlands, April's childhood was an enchanting mix of adventure and artistic inspiration. Exploring the dry gullies and untouched beauty of their family home, her imagination would soar, igniting a lifelong love for the breathtaking Australian landscapes. It was later in life that travel abroad would continue to foster her love for natural landscapes and cultures and this would become one of her many muses in her work as a jeweller.

April's mother, a talented and devoted oil painter and multi disciplinary artist, instilled in her daughter a deep appreciation art and creativity in life and in one’s self. Art was not just a hobby but a way of life, woven into the fabric of their family.

As April transitioned into a young woman, she felt an undeniable pull towards the world of jewellery. First creating jewellery with leather and crystals and selling at local markets or on her various travels around Australia and the world.

In the years to come, April would transition from jewellery as a hobby to a deep commitment to the craft and insatiable desire to learn the intricate details of gold and silver smithing.

Her journey led her to study the craft sporadically under skilled mentors, honing her skills and expanding her knowledge whilst also self teaching in her areas of interest. April's dedication, passion, and natural talent allowed her to refine her unique style, blending traditional techniques, contemporary aesthetics and complete blind exploration.

With each piece of jewellery, April infuses her love for sentiment, her upbringing in the bush and the influence of her mother's artistry and philosophy along with her fascination for the history of jewellery, art and the natural world. Her jewellery tells a story, capturing the essence of the wearer's individuality and the beauty that surrounds us.

Today, April stands as the driving force behind Yang’s unique collections of jewellery. Her craftsmanship, artistic vision, and attention to detail are evident in every piece that bears her signature. We invite you to explore April's collection, where imagination, craftsmanship, and the natural world converge.

Each piece is an invitation to celebrate your own unique story, a testament to the power of art and the beauty found in the simplest of moments.
